About the scholarship:
Established in 2016 in furtherance of the Labor Movement, the IEASO Solidarity Scholarship exists to provide financial support to deserving students who are related to members of the Illinois Education Association Staff Organization.
New in 2025
- March 1 st deadline with earlier award announcement
- Electronic submission
- One scholarship will be awarded to the relative of an IEASO Professional Staff member, and one to the relative of an IEASO Associate Staff member (provided applicants apply from both groups)
- Trade school students encouraged to apply!
Who can apply:
Anyone who has a relation to a current or retired IEASO member in good standing and is enrolled in post-secondary education to include career/technical education, college, and/or university for the following school year. Those already working in the trade unions who are seeking financial assistance for trade-related items are also encouraged to apply.
Selection criteria:
- Labor Essay – 40%
- School-Based / Extra-Curricular Involvement – 20%
- Community Involvement – 20%
- GPA – 10%
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation – 10%
